Your benefit from working with HERMOS
A multitude of manufacture steps in the industrial production requires extremely precise execution due to technical and economical reasons. With IBV, an instrument is offered to meet these requirements. Semi-finished and finished goods as well as toils and processes can be automatically monitored around the clock with highest precision and speed.
HERMOS supports you during the qualitative optimization of your production process. Together with you, we identify the economically intelligent application areas of iip in your production process and subsequently create innovative and reliable inspection Solutions, customized to your precise tasks. Beginning with a selective test of suitability to the continued collection of important process parameters, numerous possibilities for quality control and productivity increase are offered. Thus norm deviations, for example, are recognized at an early stage and consequently time consuming error diagnostics, delays and resulting expenses are avoided.
The flexibility and solution orientation, which is put forth by HERMOS when cooperating with their customers, are crucial factors when wanting to successfully realize the desired reliability and profitability targets during production and delivery processes.

Application examples
Measuring of weaved products
Quality control of weaved products consists of the examination of knit structure parameters:
Different product colors and knit structures can be processed with corresponding lighting and recording technology and are analyzed fully automatically.
With lens coverage of half a square meter, the area camera views the entire weaving product and splits it into sections to be tested. In each of the test sections, distances and knit structures are analyzed and put into correlation to one another.

The result is 100% product control for each production lot complete with visualization and logging of the findings. Developing deviation during production can be recognized at an early stage and can be corrected before rejection criteria have developed.
Analysis of weaving width (”Spatial Frequency”):
This analysis is used in practice to monitor the weaving width of fabrics and technical textures. The system measures the distances and direction of the threads in order to continuously adjust the looms.
A recorded cloth sample (small square, on the bottom left) shows many parallel lines. These line sets are unambiguously defined by their median distance to one another (“spatial frequency”) and their direction (“orientation”).
If the cloth image is analyzed based on the contained parallel skeins, a diagram in the “frequency area” is the result. Each position in the frequency diagram constitutes a parallel skein with fixed orientation (rotation angle, green) and running length (radius, red). Lines which are close together can be found as “high frequency” on the outside, lines which are further apart as “low frequency” in the inside of the diagram.
In the example main knits are shown running from left to right and loose main knits and tight fine knits are shown running from top to bottom. These three parallel skeins are displayed as bright stars in the diagram. In the round image excerpts the parallel skeins are pictured in red, respectively.
Measuring of cut wood
Optimal utilization of raw materials is a central competitive factor of the forest industry. The environment, the manufacturer and the customer benefit equally. HERMOS delivers image processing Solutions for saw mills in cooperation with their partners Ontec and Simon IBV.
Based on economical requirement definitions, arriving cut boards with waney edges are analyzed fully automatically, and the economically most intelligent edging is calculated and executed. Quality relevant criteria such as branches and beetle damage are automatically recognized, calculated into quality classes and the edged boards sorted correspondingly. Up to seven boards pass through the analysis and calculation process each second.

The HERMOS image processing solution determines which boards can be cut from the individual trunk sections with the corresponding saw angle. The target values necessary for saw equipment (rotation angle, adjusted length, etc.) are calculated and transferred directly to the machine control.
Measuring of injection moulded parts
In the plastics industry, a multitude of small parts is moulded whose form quality is critical for the functionality of the entire product.

Typical injection moulded parts can be measured and tested to a precision of 5μm. The inspections Solutions implemented by HERMOS assure the required quality of the components used. Rejection and reclamation rates are reduced accordingly while productivity and customer satisfaction increase.
