Operation and monitoring with IP telephones


FIS# Roommanagement constitutes a new dimension of simplicity, convenience and functionality in house technology. Room automation and IP network merge. The user is able to adjust the room environment comfortably and simply with different IP devices. Using the internet protocol (IP) as the global communication standard opens completely new possibilities. FIS# Roommanagement is attractive because of its innovation and economical efficiency.

Conceptual design


FIS# connects the technical systems and devices via common bus systems and Ethernet TCP/IP. Heating, ventilation, climate control, locking system, lighting, shading, webcam or elevator – the entire room automation is integrated manufacturer independently in the information and management system FIS#. Starting with simple switching processes all the way to complex house technology systems, automation solutions can be programmed and visualised effortlessly. FIS# communicates via Ethernet-interfaces with each TCP/IP device. To operate the room automation, the user can freely choose from a multitude of terminal devices. The options range from PC to PDA, tablet PC and cell phone to all the way to IP telephones and IP television sets.

Characteristic of this modern communication structure is the ability to connect highly different devices and to integrate new functions and services in addition to the optional integration of new offers from the carrier. FIS# Roommanagement is the intelligent, economically efficient and if required cross-locational system for the control and operation of room automation in the field of office, laboratory, hotel and home.

Benefits


Devices and networks that have thus far been necessary for the control and operation of room automation, are omitted entirely or partially. Common user interfaces to operate room automation are replaced by IP terminal devices (telephone, remote control and TV set etc.) that are necessary in any case. In addition, the bus cable connection extending all the way to the user interface is omitted. Instead, communication is effected through LAN / W-LAN which is available by default. This approach cuts down on equipment, additional planning and installation work as well as on administration and maintenance expenditures during running operation. Besides the financial savings, the user has advantages when it comes to flexibility, convenience and handling. The IP terminal devices can be selected according to each application area and can be combined with each other or with conventional operation devices. Suitable IP operation devices can be selected from the entire range of commercially available technologies. In case TV sets are used, the operation surfaces can be designed to be comparatively clearly laid out. If a different choice is made the mobility of the user is the decisive factor and cordless telephones are suitable. Based on the completely integrated house network, the carrier can integrate new services (for example user specific room conditioning) quickly and can offer them to the user.

IP-Telephones
Because of the connection of room automation and IP telephony, the degree of mobility and flexibility in the respective buildings is increased. The user can log in at any telephone in the house network and has access to the room automation. In case, "W-LAN" or radio contact is used, the user has access completely independently from his/her position in the building.
Communication between FIS# and the telephones is based on standard interfaces. User interfaces are realized as web pages, and their graphics can be freely designed. Operation is effected depending on the selected telephone type via touch screen and/or the function key of the telephone.

IP-TV sets
With the new IP capable flat screen generation, TV sets open up the full band width of the digital world. Entertainment via high quality HDTV sets is merged with the network capability of a computer.

The intended communication between and the TV sets is once again based on standard interfaces, and user interfaces are realized as web pages. Due to the availability of Communicate Automate Integrate the large screens, the graphical design options have proved themselves as particularly effective. Operation is effected via function keys of the remote control. Utilization of TV sets to operate room automation is especially suitable in hotel rooms as well as dormitories, hospitals and in the residential environment of disabled persons. Particularly to older persons, ergonomically adjusted, special remote controls can be provided with larger and specifically placed keys.
